Artist Easels
An easel is a great a tool to help keep your masterpiece in place while you're in the midst of working on it. Keep in mind that an easel should be portable, easy to set up, and most importantly, durable; you wouldn't want it to tip over; destroying your artwork. There are several different variations of easels.
Table-top easel: If you're concerned about an easel taking up to much space then a table-top easel is the way to go. It is designed to simply hold your artwork in an upright position. Keep in mind that the table-top easel would need to be set on something else in order to give it some height, such as a table-top. This is a great style of easel, however for large scale pieces, this would not be so ideal.
Sketchbox or Paintbox easel: Very similar to the table-top easel, however this painting easel contains a built-in box so that one may store various art supplies.
French easel: A 3 in one easel, it contains a sketchbox, an easel, and a canvas carrier.1 Because of its convenience, a French easel is great for an artist who paints in outdoor settings.
Sketching, Portable, and Display easel: This type of easel is fairly flimsy. Therefore, I wouldn't recommend actually working on your painting on one of these. They are however, good for simply displaying your finished product.
Floor or Studio easels: These easels are perfect if you are working on a large scale creation. The easels with a square foot are going to be sturdier than the ones with three legs. Also, keep in mind that these easels are hard to transport, huge, heavy and not to mention expensive.
